I found this author serendipitously - after reading all of Sarah Addison Allen's books (recommended by my friend Maura), amazon suggested books by 'similar' authors. I've read all of Mansell's books and enjoyed them. They're light reading, with fully-realized three-dimensional characters. They don't have those cringe-worthy moments that are often so abundant (think Bridget Jones Diary and the Shopaholic series). The latest book came out in the US last week - I recommend it as a light and easy read to enjoy (maybe on the beach this summer?). Check it out here.

Garden Update
Our golden cherry tomatoes are ripening! I ate the first one this morning (a taste test to see if orange was the final color of a ripe golden and it is - it was sweet and juicy!
We'll have lots more to enjoy in the next few weeks - lots of fruit on the two plants.

Family History Friday
This is not the best quality photo but it is my maternal grandfather's paternal grandmother (second from right) and grandfather (far right) with several of her 11 children (and a couple grandchildren)
I figure this was taken around 1915 (based on the ages of the grandchildren).

This Week's Veggies and Fruit
butter lettuce, strawberries, red onions, cucumbers, yellow squash and zucchini, pole beans and baby potatoes
Happy Birthday Mom!
We'll celebrate her birthday more fully next month, but since today is her big day, join me in saying, "Happy 75th" to my Mom! She is a tribute to the adage "you're only as old as you feel!" Her daily routine and social life put many people much younger than she is to shame (for example, yours truly).
Mom doing what she likes best - enjoying a glass of wine by the the pool with one or more grandsons.
