In the under-foot department, we now have a run of flooring from the front door all the way through to the back door, which is about 38 feet. Half of the pantry/utility room/laundry room is floored (and the remainder is corked) and the bathroom is finished as well.

And it turns out our water heater is original to the house. Yes, it is c. 1986! 24 years is about twice the average lifespan, so the new one will be installed tomorrow, with a pan underneath that drains to outside, just in case it ever leaks. Wouldn't want to ruin the brand new floor!!
For comparison, here's the old Energy Guide. It'll be interesting to see what the new one says! I'll post it tomorrow.
oh... so exciting.. now the question is .. which water heater did you go with.. so many decisions.. do you need to come over here for a hot shower in the am?? or in the pm for pasta night.. talk to you in am.. alarm is set for 10

ReplyDeleteBTW, what I didn't realize about our "renovation" was M-M actually doing 20% of it - he is doing all the trim work underneath the counters ... cheaper, most definitely, but he is so not a full-discloser! ha, ha
Yes, we have been walking all over the cork, it's actually quite nice to walk on. The guys sweep and vacuum it well before laying each section of floor.
