Kitchen Progress!

6 more doors were installed today plus 3 of the 4 panels on the sides of refrigerator/double oven box.

Nice, right? These four went in first, and you can see the panels on the right hand side there too.

Hopefully in this pic, you can see the side panels a little better. Too much flash? Too little?

Exciting day in the kitchen, and now we are that much closer to being complete!

Kitchen Progress in the Last Week

Surprise! There was good progress in the kitchen this week! The hood's installed, and we have shelves in five cabinets.

Kitchen Progress July 2010

Since we've been traveling, not much has happened in the kitchen but I did want to catch you up on the latest. All the cabinets are in now. The last one went up over the of the fridge and oven while we were in Ohio.

We also now have baseboards installed around almost all of the cabinets. Here is an example:

I'm going to work on getting the electricians and a drywall guy in (to finish up the ceiling and walls) this week so maybe we'll have some more to report soon!

Kitchen Project Underway - June 15th

More cabinets in the kitchen today!

As you see, there will be a drawer below the double oven. There will also be cabinets above, and panels on the right and left sides of the cabinets.

Cabinet Doors and More Cabinet Doors

Sorry to be so long overdue with the posts. There hasn't been a lot of action in the kitchen, but we have had 2 days of cabinet door installs, today and a week ago Friday. Let's start with the first ones (all solid doors):

Our Island Is Now Pretty!

Friday we got the first three of our drawers (not much to see there!) and the panels installed on the island.

The lighting in this photo is not great but doesn't it look great?

The shine on the finish is making it look like the color isn't solid but in real life it is. I'll try to take some photos today in natural light (the ones above were taken with the flash).

Cabinet Shelves

Oh the little things make me happy... and today the little things are shelves in the cabinets!

And these are the doors that will go on the buffet (after they're stained and have glass). Hard to tell in this picture, but they look really great!!

Cabinet Installation

Two more sections of cabinets are now installed! We still need the section by the ovens and fridge. Also we need drawers and doors but they should be ready by the end of next week or beginning of the following week... and trim and crown molding... but hey, we're making progress!

Here's the section by the sink. The cabinets on the left will have glass doors (that's why they are stained on the inside).

Again the stained cabinets will have glass doors and the others solid doors. The open space there in the middle is where the microwave will be installed (it's an under-mount model).

More Kitchen Cabinets

Friday we got a lot more cabinets!

This section has been dubbed "the buffet." It's on the far side of the kitchen, and having it there really makes that part of the room feel like it's part of the room.

This is the right side of the buffet. It'll match the left (it's 2 pictures down, below) with glass doors on top, drawer in the middle and solid doors on the bottom. 

This is the center section of the buffet. It'll have a counter top (matching the ones in the rest of the kitchen), drawers on the right and left sides and solid doors in the center. When the electricians were here, they forgot to move the outlet up, so I asked the cabinet guys to leave us access to it inside the cabinet.

This is the left side of the buffet. Like the right, it'll have glass doors on top, drawer in the middle and solid doors on the bottom.

This is the baking area... even though now it looks like the tool storage area! On the left we'll have a lower counter for rolling out dough. Behind that a hidden storage area. Drawer and double solid doors in the center and storage for muffin tins on the far right. In the area where the level and the ladder are we'll have a small beverage fridge. It's now scheduled to be delivered this Wednesday. The counter top will run the whole length of the back wall. 

And here's the last section, with the dishwasher installed. I promise to take the protective cover off the dishwasher once the counter top is in!

The plan for this week:

Monday - countertops installed

Tuesday - gas plumber should be here to install the cooktop in the island

Wednesday - beverage fridge should be delivered

by the end of the week we should also have more cabinets and maybe the double oven out of the box.
